Looking for Roberto Clemente opens to rave reviews!
Celia Wren from the Washington Post raves: "(Zacarias and La Puma) turn a funny, crackerjack tale about baseball-obsessed kids into a terrific new children's musical...it's purely exuberant" and Jayne Blanchard of the Washington Times says "Baseball lovers will find this show irresistible... it delivers an emotional wallop." This new rock musical about baseball and heros written with Karen Zacarias runs at Bethesda's Imagination Stage through June 1st, featuring a live band and loads of baseball and groovy rock music! Chasing George Washington performed at the White House!
On March 7th, the cast of "Chasing George Washington: A White House Adventure" had the honor of performing in the East Room of the White House itself for the first lady, first daughter Jenna, and a friendly crowd of DC school children and military and diplomatic families. This composer was completely thrilled to go on her own White House Field Trip with playwright Karen Zacarias, sit on the furniture, look out the Green Room window, see the historic paintings, dance to "The President's Own" band in the foyer, and have her music added to the history of performances in that beautiful house. We were even treated to cookies shaped like the bust of George Washington courtesy of the White House chefs! The show opened the following day at the Kennedy Center, and the run is now completely sold out. Look for the show on national tour in 2010!
National Tour Cast of Phantom of the Opera performs Dakota Sky as benefit for local charity
Members of the cast and orchestra of the current National Tour of Phantom of the Opera performed a concert reading of Dakota Sky to benefit the Negri Learning Center at the Norris Theatre in my own back yard of Palos Verdes, CA on April 7th. The sparkling evening of theatre with incredible performances helped the Negri Learning Center raised funds to provide outreach classes and scholarships to local children in musical theatre. Thanks Sean MacLaughlin and Debbie Martinez for this wonderful opportunity!
Nobody's Perfect soon available on CD
After the incredibly successful premiere of Nobody's Perfect at the Kennedy Center last Fall, we are currently making an original cast recording! Look to purchase your copy of this girl-powered show, featuring the hip hop sensation "Hamster Panic" on this website, and in the Kennedy Center gift shops this summer. You can also purchase a copy when Nobody's Perfect comes through your town on its national tour in 2009!

Karen Zacarias and I are looking forward to working on our two newest commissions - a new musical for South Coast Repertory Theatre with a world beat - "Jane of the Jungle", and a new musical for Imagination Stage.
